osimo
Thoroughly preserving its medieval character, this city is punctuated by
Roman and Gothic churches and palaces. The 12th century cathedral [la Cattedrale]
is one of the most interesting examples of Roman-Gothic architecture in
Le Marche and the Diocesan Museum [Il Museo Diocesano] houses numerous documents
relating to Osimo’s religious history. The façade of the town
hall [Il Palazzo Cumunale] was designed by the architect Florian. Statues
and other Roman artifacts, such as the Fonte Magna, representing a nymph
from the 1st century B.C., are displayed in the entrance hall and courtyard
of the town hall, which opened in the early 1500s.
